Nakheel Properties is the master developer of Palm Jebel Ali. The Dubai government set the company up in 2000 and still owns it. Nakheel is best known for Palm Jumeirah, the first of Dubai's palm-shaped islands, and it is now building the larger island at Jebel Ali.
Many of Dubai's best-known communities and a long stretch of its coastline come from Nakheel projects. For anyone buying at Palm Jebel Ali, that history matters in a practical way: the company that planned and delivered Palm Jumeirah is responsible for the roads, utilities, beaches and public spaces on the new island.
Nakheel at Palm Jebel Ali
The Palm Jebel Ali master plan was approved in May 2023, and Nakheel restarted work on an island that had been on hold for years. As master developer, Nakheel is responsible for the plan of the seven islands and 16 fronds, the access roads from Sheikh Zayed Road, the utilities, the beaches and the public spaces.
Nakheel's releases on the island so far include the Beach Collection and Coral Collection villas, Premium I and Premium II residential plots, and the apartments and townhouses at Palm Central Private Residences.
Types of Developments by Nakheel
Nakheel builds residential communities, shopping destinations and mixed-use districts across Dubai. Its projects range from single villa communities to entire islands, and many of them are now settled neighbourhoods.
Residential Projects by Nakheel
- Palm Jumeirah is the original palm-shaped island, with beachfront villas, apartments, hotels and some of Dubai's busiest leisure venues.
- Jumeirah Islands is a group of more than 40 small islands, each with 16 villas, set around man-made lakes.
- Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) is a family community with apartments, villas and townhouses.
- Jumeirah Park is a villa community with large plots, parks and shared facilities.
- Dubai Islands is a new project of five man-made islands off the coast of Deira, planned with beach resorts, hotels and residential communities.
Commercial and Retail Projects
- International City is a residential and retail district and the home of Dragon Mart.
- Dragon Mart is a very large trading mall for goods from China and the main draw of International City.
- Nakheel Mall on Palm Jumeirah has more than 250 shops, restaurants and entertainment outlets.
- Ibn Battuta Mall is a themed shopping mall with six courts, each designed around a region of the world.
Between them, these projects show the range of work Nakheel takes on, from quiet villa communities to whole islands and city-scale shopping districts.
Please note: Nakheel is the master developer of Palm Jebel Ali, but it will not be the only developer on the island. As on Palm Jumeirah, other approved developers are expected to build their own projects, which will give buyers a wider choice of designs and facilities.
